May 11, 2025. What a day to remember. I can still feel the warmth in my chest, the smiles that stretched across faces, and the love that overflowed from every moment spent with my family, Elaiza’s family, and of course, the love of my life. It wasn’t just another Sunday, it was Mother’s Day, Elaiza’s 28th birthday, and our monthsary all rolled into one beautiful celebration. A triple celebration meant one thing: we had to make it extra special.
We chose Tola: Kan-anan sa Balay Oboza, a beautiful, homey restaurant that felt like a warm embrace the moment we stepped inside. With its rustic charm and inviting atmosphere, it was the perfect setting for a gathering of two families, joined not just by tables and food but by love, unity, and shared joy.
Celebrating Our Superwomen
The day started with honoring the two amazing women who raised us, our mothers. They are the real MVPs, the quiet strength behind our every step, and the hearts that beat with endless love and sacrifice.
As a token of our love, we gifted them something elegant yet meaningful: a stylish handbag and a beautiful pair of CLN sandals each. Their faces lit up with surprise and happiness. We also handed them two lovely bouquets, each flower carefully chosen to symbolize grace, love, and resilience.
"A mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take."
It was a joy seeing them smile, laugh, and feel appreciated, even just for this day but truly, they deserve it every day.
Happy 28th, My Love 💛
And then there’s Elaiza my heart, my partner, my constant. Celebrating her 28th birthday was more than just a number; it was a celebration of everything that makes her, her.
To make her feel loved and seen, I gifted her something close to her heart: a Hirono action figurine, because I know how much it means to her. Seeing her eyes sparkle with surprise made it all worth it. I also gave her a sunflower bouquet, because like sunflowers, she brightens up even the dullest of days.
Eden, Elaiza’s sweet sister, was also with us. We handed her a bouquet of roses, a simple yet sincere gesture of appreciation for her beautiful soul. Their mom also received a lovely pair of sandals from Michelle and we treated her to a Salon day because all mothers deserve pampering and a moment to feel like queens.
A Promise Before the Day Ends
But the most unforgettable part of the day came later. After a long day of laughter, sharing stories, and celebrating, I asked Elaiza to come with me to Starbucks at SM Ecoland.
There, I handed her a small, precious box, a promise ring. With hands slightly shaking and my heart pounding, I shared with her my vows, my promises.
“I promise to support your dreams, to listen with an open heart, to celebrate your wins, and to stand beside you through every storm. I promise to love you not only on the good days but especially on the difficult ones. You are my home, my peace, my forever.”
She cried happy tears. And so did I.
She accepted the ring with so much love, holding it like it was the most precious gem in the world. And just when I thought the moment couldn’t be any more magical. She made promises too, words so sincere they wrapped around my heart like a warm hug.
"In you, I've found my soulmate, my best friend, and my safe place."
Moments that Become Memories
It’s rare to have days that check every box: family, love, laughter, food, surprises, and tears of joy. But this was one of those days. A day that turned into a core memory.
From Tola’s warm ambiance, to gifts exchanged with heartfelt intention, to a quiet promise made over coffee, everything felt like it was written in the stars.
As I look back, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. For my family, for Elaiza’s family, for the chance to make our mothers feel special, and for the love I get to share every day with Elaiza.
And as I sit here, writing this with a smile that won’t fade, I know this:
“The best days are not the ones filled with grandeur, but the ones filled with meaning shared with the people who matter most.”
To love. To family. To promises. To forever.
